You can close it and open it again in the same dead zone — the app itself is stored on the device, not fetched each time. When signal returns it syncs in order, and nothing you did while offline is lost.

Photos are also shrunk on your phone before they are sent, so they upload fast on a bad signal and do not eat your data plan. That also strips the location tag phones bury inside photo files, so a picture of a customer’s property does not quietly carry their address around.
